“Seinfeld” has renewed its licensing agreement with Netflix and will stay on the streamer for another five years.
The beloved sitcom has also re-upped its deal with Paramount, extending the studio’s exclusive basic cable
rights in the U.S. for three years across Comedy Central, TV Land and other Paramount cable networks. Financial terms were not disclosed, yada yada yada.
All 180 episodes of “Seinfeld” first went to Netflix and Comedy Central in 2021. Sony Pictures Television signed streaming and cable agreements in 2019 with Netflix and Viacom, before the latter company’s merger with CBS, which was later named Paramount Global.
Debuting in 1989, “Seinfeld” remains one of the most valuable television properties. The “show about nothing” reached 60 million Americans in the first half of 2026 alone, according to Nielsen — or, at least, 60 million Americans were exposed to at least one minute of the show on streaming or linear TV.
Hailing from Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, the show produced one of the most iconic sitcom squads in history — Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards. Its legacy lives on in its enduring influence on the TV landscape and the many “Seinfeld”-isms that have become colloquialisms, from “regifting” to “double-dipping.”
