Taylor Swift is fond of the number 13, but here’s betting she also considers the numeral 100 lucky, too. She can now celebrate having 100 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, for all of her albums combined, further
extending a record among solo artists that will be difficult for anyone to catch up with in our lifetimes.
She hit the magic 100 mark by having “The Life of a Showgirl” hold on at No. 1 for a second straight week, bolstered by the release of ax extended edition. This bonus-filled version with four new tracks, titled “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” counts alongside the original edition for chart calculation purposes, so “Showgirl” is officially enjoying a 14th week at No. 1.
As Billboardpoints out, Swift has no real rivals among solo artists when it comes to those 100 weeks atop the chart. The nearest runner-up is Elvis Presley, who doesn’t stand in too much danger of being able to add very many more No. 1 weeks to his total of 67. The nearest runner-up among living artists is Garth Brooks, with just over half Swift’s number, at 52. However, she doesn’t have the all-time record when it comes to all artists: That belongs to the Beatles, who have 132 collective weeks at No. 1. Based on her recent chart runs, Swift has the potential to overtake the Beatles with just 2-3 more original album releases.
Speaking of the Beatles, they joined her in the top 10 this week. “Rubber Soul” reenters the chart at No. 4, thanks to a reissue campaign that includes a boxed set as well as remastered editions of the original album. This is the first time the 60-year-old album has been in the top 10 since April 1966. (It last charted on the overall Billboard 200 in January 2016.)
The other fresh action in the top 10 comes from two more rebounding albums — which, along with the big returns for Swift and the Beatles, makes for four albums out of 10 that are suddenly back in the upper ranks because of a re-release or deluxe edition. Drake’s “Habibti” jumps up from No. 116 to No. 2 on the strength of a reissue with four new tracks. Mac Miller’s “The Divine Feminine” jumps from No. 159 to No. 10 because of a 10th anniversary celebration edition.
“The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” was able to stay comfortably on top with 93,000 equivalent units, down 46% from what the extended version came out of the gate with last week.
The Drake album was in at No. 2 with 71,000 units. Olivia Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” continued its winning streak with 66,000 units, good for No. 3. At No. 4, the Beatles used those rubber soles to bounce up to 58,000 units after all these years.
Rounding out the top 10 are Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” at No. 5 (55,000 units), Ella Langley’s “Dandelion” at No. 6 (54,000), Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide” at No. 7 (46,000), Olivia Dean’s “The Art of Loving” at No. 8 (35,000), Kahan’s “Stick Season” at No. 9 (with 33,000) and Miller’s 10-year-old “Divine Feminine” (bolstered by three added tracks) at No. 10 (33,000)
