“Saturday Night Live U.K.” has added a new castmember for its second season with Freddie Meredith joining the gang.
The comedian has previously starred in “Such Brave Girls” and “Big Boys.”
Meredith, who recently won
an award for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe for his show “Need a Light?”, joins returning castmembers Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
According to the bio shared by “SNL U.K.”, he hails from London, living just a stone’s throw from the show’s HQ in White City.
“It’s a no brainer, it’s the most iconic comedy show and it looks like so much fun,” he said of joining the cast. “It will undoubtedly inform everything I do for the rest of my career and I can’t wait for the experience. It’s ‘SNL!!!’”
With the U.K. recently getting yet another new Prime Minister in the form of Andy Burnham, no doubt there are plenty of roles for the newcomer to sink his teeth into. Outgoing PM Keir Starmer was played by Fouracres throughout the show’s first season.
Season 2 launches on Sept. 12 on Sky and its streaming platform Now with Jeff Goldblum as host and CMAT as musical guest. The second season order is for 12 episodes — four more than the first.
