The hottest ticket in New York City is to the Knicks home opener at Madison Square
Garden on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Since winning the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs back in June, the Knicks have become the toast of New York with good vibes around the city, massive TV ratings and even Jalen Brunson hosting the premiere episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
The home opener for the Knicks just isn’t the first game of the 2026-2027 season, but it’s also when the team gets to raise their championship banner in MSG and the players get their championship rings. In addition, this is the first championship ceremony for the Knicks since 1973 — that’s 53 years without a banner. It’s a historic event in the NBA and no Knicks fan should miss it.
However, with pricing difficulties that led the organization to pause ticket sales temporarily, tickets to the home opener are very much sought-after and tough to get. Plus, the NBA scheduled the first game of the season against the new hot team in the league, the new look Philadelphia 76ers with the addition of former-Boston Celtic Jaylen Brown and former-L.A. Laker LeBron James joining the squad.
