TIFFCOM will expand its Tokyo IP Market: Adaptation & Remake for its 2026 edition, running Oct. 28–30 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-kan, with a conference program adding sessions on AI
and anime.
The Tokyo-based content market, affiliated with the Tokyo International Film Festival, is jointly organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and Unijapan. It runs alongside the 39th edition of TIFF, set for Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 across Tokyo’s Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi and Ginza districts.
The expansion follows the first Japan IP Market at the Cannes Film Market in May, co-organized by TIFFCOM, which drew more than 700 registrants for its IP pitches and panel sessions. The Tokyo IP Market covers manga and novel adaptation rights alongside remake rights for film and television projects.
“The growing global demand for Japanese content was clearly evident,” Shiina Yasushi, executive adviser of Unijapan and CEO of TIFFCOM, said.
The conference program will run approximately 20 sessions on topics spanning Japanese IP’s overseas growth, an anime industry report, AI and international business ties, with particular attention to Asian markets. The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, TIFFCOM’s project market for feature films, will hold its seventh edition with some 20 projects selected from a larger pool of submissions, backed by a co-production partnership with Frontières, the Fantasia International Film Festival’s project market in Canada.
“We are committed to making TIFFCOM an even more valuable three-day experience for buyers, producers, and all visitors, offering opportunities to trade outstanding content, access the latest industry insights, and network,” Ikeda Kaori, managing director of TIFFCOM and Unijapan, said.
Motion graphic designer and illustrator Kawakami Takashi returns as the designer of TIFFCOM’s 2026 key visual, an illustration of Tokyo previously featured on the cover of pop-culture magazine Brutus. Kawakami has also worked on key visuals for Tomorrowland and various commercial facilities.
“I sincerely hope that many more works that become someone’s treasure will reach audiences around the world,” Kawakami said.
TIFFCOM is one of Asia’s leading content markets. Its 2025 edition drew more than 4,600 industry professionals from 46 countries and regions.
