Disney is in early development on a fifth film in its popular “Halloweentown” series.
While plot details are not yet known, the new movie is being written by Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn based on characters by Paul Bernbaum,
who wrote the first “Halloweentown” film in 1998. Casting is not confirmed either, though multiple cast members from the original movies have previously expressed interest in reprising their roles. If greenlit, the new movie will air on Disney Channel and Disney+.
Houghton wrote the 2026 comedic horror film “Forbidden Fruits,” which starred Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain and Gabrielle Union and was distributed by IFC.
Koehn was a writer on HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot, which ran for two seasons from 2021 to 2023. He was also one of a group of writers on “The Mad Whale,” a 2017 film produced by James Franco that also had several directors.
