Marilyn Monroe’s birthday celebrations haven’t concluded quite yet.
Mattel is honoring
the Hollywood icon with a new Barbie Signature doll inspired by her performance of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” in the 1953 musical “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” The collectible arrives Aug. 18, a little more than two months after what would have been Monroe’s 100th birthday on June 1. Monroe’s centennial has been marked throughout 2026 with exhibitions, auctions and other tributes to the actress, whose industry-spanning influence has endured more than six decades after her death.

Marilyn Monroe Barbie Signature Doll
The $81 doll recreates one of Monroe’s most recognizable screen looks: the hot-pink gown she wore while singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” complete with an oversized bow, dramatic opera gloves and sparkling jewelry.
“Barbie has a rich history of celebrating Marilyn Monroe’s legendary style as both a fashion icon and beloved actress,” Robert Best, Mattel’s vice president and dolls design creative director, said in a statement. Best added that the company wanted the doll to recognize Monroe not only for the famous pink gown, but also as “a savvy producer, a businesswoman and a boundary-breaking artist.”
The new release continues a long history between Monroe and Barbie. Mattel previously created dolls based on several of her signature costumes, including the billowing white halter dress from “The Seven Year Itch,” a red sequined gown from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and her one-shouldered evening gown from “How to Marry a Millionaire.” The company’s Monroe dolls date back to at least 1997.
The Marilyn Monroe Barbie Signature Doll goes on sale Aug. 18 on Amazon for $81.
