Nicko McBrain, the long-time drummer for heavy metal band Iron Maiden, recently admitted he’d been invited to play golf with Donald Trump, but turned down the offer because of his staunch anti-MAGA beliefs — and that
the president and his “bunch of cronies,” in McBrain’s words, “should be put in jail.”
Like Trump, McBrain resides in Florida, and in a recent interview with the Telegraph, said a friend of his “who’s a massive Republican” asked, “‘Oh, do you want to come and play golf with us? With the president,’” said McBrain. “And I said, ‘You fucking what?’… and I just said, ‘No.’ No mate.”
He continued: “I’m not politically inclined, although I must be because I have my thoughts about him. I’m not amused by the narcissism, and all this kerfuffle about the Epstein files and whatnot, and especially the debauched war that he’s put on Iran.” McBrain went on to add that Pete Hegseth is “going to be put in prison.” “My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail,” he concluded.
McBrain’s autobiography “Hello Boys and Girls!” hits shelves Thursday, and is described as a “thrilling, hilarious and deeply personal autobiography,” per publisher HarperCollins. “With trademark humor and heart, Nicko takes readers behind the scenes of one of Britain’s biggest ever bands… This is the story of what it feels like to remain not just relevant but more loved than ever after decades at the top, and to live a life transformed by music, brotherhood and belief.”
The band announced earlier this month it will set off on the third and final leg of its 50th-anniversary “Run for Your Lives” tour, beginning in April and concluding in May. They will close this leg with two festival headlining performances at Sonic Temple and Boardwalk Rock.
In April, Iron Maiden was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026. The official induction ceremony is set for Nov. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
