Lynette Howell Taylor has been reelected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, beginning a second consecutive term as the organization moves toward its 100th anniversary.
Also elected to the 2026-2027
officer positions by the Board are: Lesley Barber (Music Branch), chair of the Membership Committee; David Dinerstein (Marketing and Public Relations Branch), vice president/treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee; Jennifer Fox (Producers Branch), chair of the Awards Committee; Lou Diamond Phillips (Actors Branch), chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee; and Howard A. Rodman (Writers Branch), vice president/secretary and chair of the Governance Committee. Barber, Fox, Phillips and Rodman were reelected as officers. It marks Dinerstein’s first officer role.
“We are so deeply grateful to Lynette, Lesley, David, Jennifer, Lou and Howard for their commitment to the Academy and to our global film community,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer wrote in a statement. “As we move toward our 100th anniversary, I am excited to continue our vital work with the Board and these exceptional Board officers to support our members, the industry and the Academy’s mission and programs.”
A sitting Academy president may run for reelection until they have served up to four consecutive one-year terms, even if they would otherwise be required to take a two-year hiatus after two governor terms. Because Howell Taylor has served two terms as governor, she will sit as an ex officio voting member of the board through the completion of her presidency.
A member of the Producers Branch since 2014, Howell Taylor has produced more than 25 films over the last two decades, including “A Star Is Born,” which received eight Oscar nominations and earned her a best picture nod. Her credits also include “Roofman,” “The Accountant 2,” “The Accountant,” “Captain Fantastic,” “Big Eyes,” “The Place Beyond the Pines,” “Blue Valentine” and “Half Nelson.” She produced the 92nd Oscars telecast alongside Stephanie Allain in 2020, work that earned her an Emmy nomination.
Awards season will be busy for the industry, as well as AMPAS. The Governors Awards, which will hand out honorary Oscars to veterans such as Glenn Close and Ridley Scott, will take place Nov. 15. Preliminary voting for the Oscars shortlist in 12 categories runs Dec. 7-11, with the shortlist announcement to follow Dec. 15. Official nominations voting will run Jan. 11-15, 2027, with the nominations being revealed on Jan. 21, 2027. The 99th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027, and will be hosted by Conan O’Brien. The ceremony airs live at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
