Barry Illing, a 71-year-old resident of Cirencester, is undertaking a unique marathon by walking 420 laps around his garden while pushing a decorated wheelbarrow. This event, scheduled for December 23, is a fundraising effort for Prospect Hospice, which
provided care for his mother. Illing's inspiration comes from a similar event he conducted 36 years ago, where he raised £100 for the hospice by pushing a wheelbarrow from Highworth to Whaddon. This time, he aims to surpass his previous fundraising efforts, with the initial goal of £330 already exceeded. The marathon will feature a wheelbarrow adorned with Christmas decorations and lights, and Illing plans to complete the 26-mile challenge by the early hours of Christmas Eve.
