U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation has successfully installed four Rotor Sails on its very large ore carrier (VLOC) vessel, Grand Pioneer. This marks the first instance of a Taiwanese shipowner adopting wind-assisted propulsion technology. The sails, provided by Anemoi Marine Technologies, were installed at the COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard in September 2025. The installation process was completed using a plug-and-play method, with each sail measuring 35 meters in height and five meters in diameter. This development is part of U-Ming's efforts to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions in maritime transport.
