What's Happening?
Tertulia, a book discovery and e-commerce platform, is set to launch Tertulia for Authors (TFA) on November 18. This new service aims to assist authors in creating and managing their online presence. The
flagship product of TFA is an automated site-building tool that has already attracted over 10,000 accounts and 3,500 paying subscribers since its beta launch in April 2025. The tool allows authors to generate a basic landing page using an ISBN number, which includes subpages for bios, reviews, and more. Tertulia's CEO, Sebastian Cwilich, describes TFA as an extension of their existing e-commerce efforts, particularly in coordinating pre-order campaigns for authors.
Why It's Important?
The launch of TFA is significant for authors, especially those who are self-published or lack mainstream distribution. By simplifying the process of creating an online presence, TFA provides authors with a platform to connect with readers and enhance their visibility. This service could be particularly beneficial for authors whose publishers do not facilitate marketing efforts. Additionally, Tertulia's existing audience, which includes members of the Tertulia Co-Op, is likely to support this initiative, fostering a healthier book ecosystem. The platform's ability to convert free trial users to paying subscribers at a high rate indicates strong demand and potential success.
What's Next?
Tertulia plans to officially launch the TFA site-builder with a demo webinar later this month. As the platform gains traction, it is expected to attract more authors and publishers looking to enhance their marketing strategies. The success of TFA could lead to further developments in author services, potentially expanding the range of tools and support offered to authors. The platform's growth may also encourage other companies to develop similar services, increasing competition in the author services market.
