Cheri Renee Crocker-Jones, a respected educator and former assistant principal, passed away at the age of 77 in Schererville, Indiana, on January 14, 2026. Born in Gary, Indiana, in 1948, she was the only
child of Gus and Martha Wynn. Cheri was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and furthered her education at Indiana University Northwest and Calumet College of St. Joseph, where she earned a Master of Arts in Education. Her career spanned multiple industries before she dedicated herself to education, ultimately retiring as an assistant principal from Thea Bowman High School. Cheri is survived by her four children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled for January 22, 2026, at Guy & Allen Chapel, with a funeral service to follow on January 23, 2026, at Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Gary, Indiana.
