Rhiannon Canavan, a resident of Page Moss in Knowsley, Merseyside, has initiated a free Christmas grotto at The Gate Community Centre to ensure that every child in the area can meet Santa Claus. This initiative
comes in response to the high costs associated with visiting traditional grottos, which Canavan describes as 'extortionate.' The grotto features festive decorations including illuminated snowmen, Christmas characters, elves, and Santa himself. Canavan, who is deeply involved in various community activities throughout the year, aims to provide a joyful experience for children in one of the country's most deprived areas. Her efforts have been recognized with a BBC North West Christmas Star award, highlighting her significant contribution to the community.
