Gliolab, the Glioblastoma Foundation's newly established CLIA-certified Genomic Testing & Research Laboratory, has begun accepting patient tumor samples for Whole-Genome DNA Methylation Profiling using the Epignostix Classifier. This development, announced
on October 31, 2026, by the Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit, aims to broaden access to advanced molecular characterization for glioblastoma patients. Gliolab is reportedly the first nonprofit, CLIA-certified genomic testing laboratory in the United States exclusively dedicated to glioblastoma. The Epignostix Classifier offers a comprehensive molecular analysis, including DNA methylation at hundreds of thousands of sites, MGMT promoter methylation status, glioblastoma class and subclass identification (such as RTK1 and RTK2), and copy-number alterations in 29 glioblastoma-relevant genes. This advanced testing utilizes machine-learning and AI-based approaches to classify tumors and confirm diagnoses, providing crucial insights into tumor biology.
