What's Happening?
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to integrate a C5ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS)-compliant Electronic Warfare (EW) capability onto the MQ-1C Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). This development marks the third EW capability integrated into the CMOSS chassis, demonstrating the ease of adding new plug-and-play capabilities to the Gray Eagle platform. The integration leverages the Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) of the Gray Eagle, which has previously incorporated capabilities such as Electronic Attack, Communications Relay, Counter-UAS, and Signals Intelligence. The new EW capability is expected to enhance deep sensing operations in the Pacific and improve the survivability and lethality of the Gray Eagle in the INDOPACOM Area of Responsibility.
