What's Happening?
Boston Harbor recently welcomed a historic Parade of Sail, featuring dozens of tall ships from around the world. This event is part of Sail Boston 2026, celebrating America's 250th anniversary and Massachusetts' rich maritime heritage. The USS Constitution,
also known as Old Ironsides, led the parade, followed by the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, which participated in a race against sister ships for the first time since 1976. The event includes ships from various countries, such as Portugal's Sagres, Argentina's ARA Libertad, and Chile's Esmeralda. U.S. ships like the square-rigged Elissa and the Gloucester schooner Adventure, a National Historic Landmark, are also participating. The ships will be docked at various berths around Boston, offering free tours and engagements through July 15. The event is a continuation of a tradition that began in 1976 during the nation's Bicentennial celebration.
