The construction of Concourse D at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago has entered its vertical phase, marking a significant milestone in the $1.3 billion project. This phase follows extensive demolition, excavation, and foundation work, and is expected
to create 3,800 construction jobs. The project is managed by AECOM Hunt Clayco Bowa, a joint venture, and has secured all necessary permits, including those for caisson, foundation, and tower crane. The new concourse, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in collaboration with other architects, will feature 19 new gates, lounge space, commercial areas, and a children's play area. Completion is scheduled for late 2028.
