What's Happening?
IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a strategic partnership with Cangio Tourist City Corporation to introduce four of its hotel brands to the Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio development in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This collaboration will see the development of over
1,000 rooms across four hotels: InterContinental Saigon Can Gio, Crowne Plaza Saigon Can Gio, Holiday Inn Express Saigon Can Gio, and Garner Hotel Saigon Can Gio. The project aims to position Vinhomes Green Paradise as a world-class coastal urban development, enhancing its appeal to both domestic and international visitors. The hotels are expected to open between 2028 and 2030, contributing to a 7,000-room accommodation ecosystem. This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish Can Gio as a global tourism and resort hub, with plans to attract 40 million visitors annually.
Why It's Important?
This development is significant as it underscores Vietnam's growing prominence as a global tourism destination. By partnering with IHG, Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio aims to leverage IHG's operational excellence and global brand recognition to attract high-end international and domestic travelers. The introduction of these hotel brands is expected to boost the local economy by creating jobs and increasing tourism revenue. Additionally, the development will enhance Vietnam's infrastructure, with improved transport connectivity facilitating easier access to the region. This project aligns with Vietnam's broader economic goals of expanding its tourism sector and positioning itself as a leading destination in Southeast Asia.
What's Next?
The next steps involve the construction and development phases of the hotels, with operations expected to commence from 2028. Stakeholders, including Vinpearl and IHG, will coordinate closely to ensure the successful execution of the project. As the development progresses, it is anticipated that there will be increased interest from international investors and tourists, further solidifying Vietnam's status as a key player in the global tourism industry. The completion of transport infrastructure projects, such as the Ben Thanh – Can Gio high-speed railway, will be crucial in supporting the anticipated influx of visitors.
