The African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) Empowerment Trust has announced substantial progress in rural development across seven provinces in South Africa. During its annual stakeholder meeting on December 1 in Sandton, ARM revealed an investment of R116 million
for the year. The meeting included tribal royalty, traditional leaders, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, trade unions, government representatives, and community partners. The trust, led by ARM founder and executive chairperson Patrice Motsepe, has been focusing on improving the wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalized groups in rural areas since its inception in 2005. Key initiatives include installing boreholes and water systems, providing agricultural equipment, and renovating educational and community facilities. ARM's total investment over the past six years amounts to R880 million, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, education, health, and economic opportunities near its operations.
