What's Happening?
As menopause becomes a more prominent topic, workplace support for women experiencing menopausal symptoms remains limited. The (M) Factor, a documentary series turned advocacy organization, is addressing this gap by partnering with MiDOViA to offer free
menopause-friendly workplace training in a 10-city tour across the U.S. The initiative aims to educate employers on the importance of supportive policies for midlife women, highlighting the impact of menopause on productivity and workforce retention. The training will provide companies with assessments and roadmaps to improve their menopause policies, with the goal of reducing stigma and workforce attrition.
Why It's Important?
The lack of workplace support for menopausal women has significant economic implications, with U.S. businesses losing an estimated $26.6 billion annually in productivity. As 1.3 million women enter menopause each year, the absence of supportive policies can lead to increased attrition and a loss of experienced talent. By addressing this issue, organizations can improve employee retention and create a more inclusive work environment. The initiative also highlights the broader need for workplace policies that accommodate diverse health needs, promoting equity and well-being in the workforce.
What's Next?
The Menopause Friendly Roundtable events will take place in major cities, offering HR and DEI executives the opportunity to earn SHRM credits while learning about menopause-friendly policies. The events will also feature a trailer of the new documentary film The (M) Factor 2: Before the Pause. By engaging with these training sessions, companies can take proactive steps to support their employees, potentially setting a standard for other organizations to follow. The initiative aims to create lasting change by integrating menopause education into workplace standards, ultimately benefiting both employees and employers.
