Canadian mining companies, including OceanaGold Corp. and B2Gold Corp., are set to expand their operations in the Philippines following a meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. OceanaGold plans a US$1.9 billion expansion to extend the operational
life of the Didipio Gold-Copper Mine until 2037, leveraging VAT-related incentives under the CREATE MORE Act. B2Gold Corp., in collaboration with Filminera Resources Corp., is investing approximately US$14 million in the solar plant expansion of the Masbate Gold Project and exploration programs. The Masbate Gold Project has significantly contributed to local and national tax revenues, transforming the host town of Aroroy into a thriving municipality.
