Cebu Province has concluded the year 2025 with a significant expansion of its healthcare workforce, hiring 376 new medical and support personnel. This initiative is part of Governor Pamela Baricuatro's
efforts to enhance healthcare delivery across the province. The new hires include 58 doctors, 197 nurses, 47 medical technologists, five pharmacists, and 111 support staff, all deployed to various Capitol-run hospitals and health facilities. The expansion coincides with Baricuatro's executive actions, which included releasing funds for emergency medical supplies and hospital operations, and restoring the Provincial Health Board. The province also invested P650 million in hospital modernization, acquiring new medical equipment to improve diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Additionally, the province has proposed a P4.8-billion health budget for 2026, focusing on continued equipment purchases and facility improvements.
