What's Happening?
PainTEQ has announced the enrollment of the first patient in the TRAQTION Study, a clinical trial evaluating the outcomes of posterior sacroiliac joint procedures using the TRAQ™ allograft. The study aims to enroll up to 100 patients across 10 U.S. sites,
following them for 24 months to assess patient-reported outcomes, safety, and healthcare utilization. The TRAQ™ procedure involves a cortical-piercing trajectory through the sacrum and ilium, building on existing sacroiliac joint procedures to improve patient outcomes.
Why It's Important?
This study represents a significant advancement in the treatment of chronic pain associated with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. By providing a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical methods, the TRAQ™ procedure could fill a therapeutic gap for patients who have not responded to conservative treatments. The study's results could influence clinical practice and expand treatment options for chronic pain sufferers, potentially improving quality of life and reducing healthcare costs.
What's Next?
The TRAQTION Study will provide valuable data on the long-term safety and effectiveness of the TRAQ™ procedure. PainTEQ plans to use this evidence to support broader clinical adoption and potentially seek regulatory approval for expanded use. The company will continue to engage with clinical partners and stakeholders to ensure the study's success and advance the understanding of sacroiliac joint procedures.
