What's Happening?
The Human Rights Council's Advisory Committee is preparing a comprehensive study on the implications of plastic pollution for the full enjoyment of human rights. This initiative follows the Council's decision 56/117 from July 2024. The study aims to address
the entire life cycle of plastic and its impact on human rights. The Advisory Committee is actively seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders, including states, United Nations agencies, international and regional organizations, and civil society groups. The goal is to gather specific data, statistics, best practices, and significant challenges to enrich the study and provide a comprehensive analysis. The findings will be presented at the Council's sixty-sixth session.
