The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is spearheading a health tech initiative aimed at modernizing Medicare through the integration of digital health solutions and patient-facing artificial
intelligence (AI). This initiative, announced by the Trump administration, focuses on promoting interoperability and increasing the availability of apps that assist Medicare patients in managing health conditions such as diabetes and obesity. The CMS plans to create an app store featuring vetted digital health solutions that adhere to privacy and security standards. These apps will integrate AI chatbots to provide Medicare beneficiaries with healthcare access information. The initiative has seen over 600 healthcare organizations join the Health Tech Ecosystem pledge, which is voluntary.
