What's Happening?
The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Egypt, through its Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, issued approximately 1,165 operating licenses for livestock and poultry production projects
in December 2025. This initiative includes renewals and approvals for various activities related to livestock, feed, poultry, and milk collection centers. Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk announced these developments based on a report from Tarek Soliman, the Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector. Among the licenses, 312 permits were specifically for small-scale livestock breeders, ensuring compliance with biosecurity regulations in collaboration with the General Authority for Veterinary Services. Additionally, the ministry approved 654 registrations for feed mixtures, additives, and concentrates, comprising both local and imported products. Furthermore, 91 technical approvals were granted for the establishment of new livestock and poultry projects.
Why It's Important?
The issuance of these licenses is significant for Egypt's agricultural sector, as it supports the expansion and regulation of livestock and poultry production. This move is likely to enhance food security and boost the agricultural economy by facilitating the growth of small-scale breeders and ensuring the availability of quality feed products. The focus on biosecurity and regulatory compliance underscores the ministry's commitment to maintaining high standards in animal husbandry, which is crucial for preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. The approval of new projects also indicates potential job creation and economic development in rural areas, contributing to the overall stability and growth of the agricultural sector.
