What's Happening?
Oregon has approved the Diamond Solar Project, which will install 406,000 solar panels on 1,560 acres of forest-zoned land at Diamond Lake Junction. The project, developed by Chicago-based Invenergy, will generate
200 megawatts of power and include 200 megawatts of battery storage. A unique feature of the project is a 600-foot-wide gap between two blocks of solar panels, designed to allow deer and elk to access water sources. This corridor was requested by Oregon's Department of Fish and Wildlife to prevent disruption of wildlife migration routes.
