What's Happening?
Princess Cruises marked the start of 2026 with a grand display at the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. The cruise line showcased its 'Together in the Magic of Alaska' float, celebrating the upcoming
inaugural season of its newest ship, the Star Princess. The float, designed by Artistic Entertainment Services, was a floral masterpiece depicting the natural beauty of Alaska. It featured animated Alaskan wildlife, including whales, sea otters, eagles, and a bear, all crafted from natural materials. The float was adorned with over 300,000 flowers, including Blue Tweedia, symbolizing Alaska's state flower, the Forget-Me-Not. The event also highlighted the theme 'The Magic in Teamwork,' with four Princess Cruises team members riding the float and performers dancing to a reimagined 'The Love Boat' theme song.
Why It's Important?
This event underscores Princess Cruises' commitment to enhancing its brand presence and celebrating its connection to Alaska, a key destination for the company. The introduction of the Star Princess, a 177,800-ton vessel capable of hosting 4,300 guests, represents a significant expansion of the company's offerings. The float's intricate design and the participation in the Rose Parade serve as a marketing strategy to attract attention to the cruise line's Alaska season, which is set to be its largest ever. This expansion is likely to boost tourism and economic activity in Alaska, benefiting local communities and businesses that rely on the influx of cruise passengers.
What's Next?
Princess Cruises is preparing for its 2026 Alaska season, which will feature eight ships, 180 departures, and 19 destinations. The Star Princess will offer weekly seven-day Inside Passage Alaska cruises from Seattle, running from May to September 2026. The company aims to provide travelers with a wide range of Alaska adventures, both by sea and land. As the season approaches, Princess Cruises will likely continue its promotional efforts to ensure strong bookings and successful voyages.
