What's Happening?
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on the Washington Bridge as part of ongoing construction efforts. The project involves the installation of 32 drilled shafts to form the foundation of the new bridge,
with vibration and noise monitoring in place. The right lane on Interstate 195 east over the Washington Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for preventative maintenance. Additionally, the left lane on the ramp from Interstate 195 west and Interstate 95 south will be closed for bridge work. Drivers are advised to exercise caution while traveling through these work zones.
