What's Happening?
NASA's Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation (CoECI) is collaborating with the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) to launch the Permitting Innovators program. This initiative aims to accelerate and modernize federal environmental review
and permitting processes by leveraging technology solutions. The program invites participants to submit tech solutions that enhance collaboration between federal agencies and the public. Selected solutions will be showcased at the Permitting Innovators Expo in July, where they will be demonstrated to federal agency staff and the environmental review community. The top solutions will be featured in the Permitting Innovators Solutions Catalog.
Why It's Important?
The Permitting Innovators program is significant as it addresses the need for more efficient and modernized environmental review processes within the federal government. By integrating technology solutions, the program aims to streamline data, systems, and processes, thereby enhancing collaboration and reducing delays in environmental permitting. This initiative could lead to faster project approvals, benefiting industries that rely on timely environmental reviews, such as construction and energy. Additionally, it supports the government's commitment to environmental sustainability by ensuring thorough and timely reviews.
What's Next?
Participants in the Permitting Innovators program will submit their solutions by June 2, 2026. Following the submission deadline, CEQ will evaluate the entries and invite selected applicants to the Permitting Innovators Expo in July. This event will provide an opportunity for innovators to present their solutions to federal agencies and the broader environmental community. The program's success could lead to further collaborations between government and industry to address environmental challenges.
