What's Happening?
A pilot program in Wales, funded by the Welsh government, has successfully used digital dispensing devices to help over 70 participants manage their medication independently. The devices, Pivotell Advance and YOURmeds, remind users to take their medication and dispense
the correct dose at the right time. They also alert family members or a central alarm system if a dose is missed. The trial, conducted with Bridgend County Borough Council's social services, targeted adults struggling with medication management due to sensory loss, cognitive impairment, or dexterity issues. The program has shown that these devices can reduce missed doses and medication errors, promoting independence and potentially reducing hospital admissions.
