What's Happening?
Rheinmetall Air Defence has been awarded a contract by the Netherlands Ministry of Defence to supply a significant number of Skyranger air defence systems. The contract, valued in the high triple-digit
millions of euros, involves the delivery of Skyranger weapon platforms, tactical-level control nodes, and hooklift transport platforms. The systems are designed for both mobile and stationary operations, integrating into the existing Dutch air defence architecture. Initial deliveries are scheduled for late 2028, with the project expected to conclude by the end of 2029. The Skyranger platform features a 30 mm x 173 KCE revolver cannon and integrated sensors, including tracking radar, and is capable of engaging aerial targets such as drones. The contract also includes classroom simulators for training and a logistics support package.
