What's Happening?
Amarillo College has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Texas Reskilling and Upskilling Through Education (TRUE) Grant Program. This funding is part of a $9.9 million initiative by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board aimed at expanding short-term
workforce training in high-demand business and technology fields. The grant will enable Amarillo College to enhance its career and technical education programs, aligning them with current job opportunities in Amarillo. The college plans to use the funds to strengthen pathways from noncredit to credit courses, facilitating quicker transitions from training to workforce entry. The grant will also support the expansion of programs in computer information systems, focusing on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data center skills.
