Oakland Animal Services is currently facing an overcrowding issue, with 79 large dogs housed in a facility designed for a maximum of 73. In response, the shelter is offering free adoptions for dogs weighing over 25 pounds this weekend. This initiative
is made possible by an anonymous donor who has pledged to cover the adoption fees. The shelter aims to find new homes for these dogs to make space for incoming animals. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. The shelter has extended its adoption hours to accommodate potential adopters, operating from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
