What's Happening?
The Northern Territory is set to welcome more skilled migrants in the 2025-26 period, with the Australian Government confirming its full allocation for the General Skilled Migration Program. The Territory has been granted 1,650 nomination places, an increase
from 1,600 last year. This includes 850 nominations for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and 800 nominations for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill emphasized the importance of this boost, stating that workforce shortages are prevalent across both public and private sectors. The NT Government has been advocating for stronger regional migration settings to support economic growth and fill skill shortages.
