What's Happening?
In 2023, Hoboken unveiled ResilienCity Park, a 5.4-acre public space designed to mitigate flooding and offer recreational opportunities. Located at 12th and Madison Streets, the park is New Jersey's largest resiliency park, transforming a former industrial
site into a dual-purpose area. The park's flood-control system includes above-ground features and underground storage, protecting low-lying areas in western Hoboken from flash flooding. The project was funded by federal, state, and county sources, including a $10 million FEMA grant, ensuring no increase in municipal taxes. The park includes a multi-purpose athletic field, playground, and other amenities, and is part of Hoboken's broader climate adaptation strategy.
