What's Happening?
Ausenco has been awarded the contract to conduct a Feasibility Study for the Ikkari gold project in Finland, managed by Rupert Exploration Finland Oy. The project, located in the Lapland region, is advancing towards a 3.5 Mt/y operation with a 20-year
life-of-mine. Ausenco will lead the study from its Perth office, integrating expertise from its Australian and Canadian teams. The study aims to deliver a robust, bankable plan, focusing on innovative, energy-efficient designs to support Rupert's carbon-neutral goals. The project will transition from open-pit to underground mining over its lifespan.
Why It's Important?
The Ikkari gold project represents a significant development in the mining sector, with potential economic benefits for Finland and the broader industry. Ausenco's involvement underscores the importance of international collaboration in advancing mining projects. The focus on energy efficiency and carbon neutrality aligns with global trends towards sustainable mining practices. Successful execution of the project could enhance Finland's position in the global gold market and contribute to local economic growth through job creation and infrastructure development.
