What's Happening?
Vietjet has announced an increase in its flight capacity by adding 130,000 seats across its domestic network from April 25 to May 5, 2026. This expansion is in response to the rising travel demand during Vietnam's peak holiday period, which includes the Hung
Kings’ Commemoration Day and the Reunification Day–International Labour Day. The airline's total seat capacity will reach 832,000, marking an 18% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, Vietjet is offering a limited-time promotion with up to 20% off on Deluxe, SkyBoss, and Business fares using the promo code SALE20, valid until April 11, 2026. This offer applies to travel through August 31, 2026, across Vietjet's entire network, including flights connecting Australian cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth with Ho Chi Minh City.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of Vietjet's flight capacity is significant as it addresses the high demand for travel during one of Vietnam's busiest holiday seasons. This move not only enhances connectivity within Vietnam but also strengthens international links, particularly with Australia. The promotion offers an economic advantage to travelers, potentially boosting tourism and related industries. For Australians, the increased capacity provides more options and convenience for travel to Vietnam, supporting both leisure and business travel. Vietjet's strategic expansion aligns with its broader Asia Pacific growth plans, which include new routes to destinations like Jakarta, Singapore, and Shizuoka.
What's Next?
As the holiday season approaches, Vietjet is likely to monitor travel demand closely and may adjust its capacity further if necessary. The airline's focus on maintaining operational efficiency while accommodating increased passenger traffic will be crucial. Travelers are encouraged to book early and utilize online check-in to ensure a smooth travel experience. Vietjet's continued expansion in the Asia Pacific region suggests potential future announcements of new routes and increased capacity, further enhancing its competitive position in the market.
