What's Happening?
TechnipFMC has been awarded a significant engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by Eni S.p.A. for the Coral North development, which is the second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project offshore Mozambique. This
project is situated in water depths of approximately 2,000 meters and follows the Coral South project, the world's first FLNG project in ultradeep water. The contract, valued between $250 million and $500 million, was included in TechnipFMC's inbound orders for the second quarter of 2025. The company plans to leverage its experience from the successful delivery of Coral South to replicate its proven strategies with enhancements.
Why It's Important?
The awarding of this contract to TechnipFMC underscores the ongoing expansion and development of Mozambique's natural gas resources, which are crucial for the country's economic growth and energy security. The project is expected to enhance Mozambique's position in the global LNG market, potentially increasing its export capacity and attracting further foreign investment. For TechnipFMC, this contract represents a significant business opportunity, reinforcing its presence in the African energy sector and showcasing its expertise in handling complex subsea projects.
