What's Happening?
The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the issuance of 1,165 project licences in December 2025, covering livestock production, feed manufacturing, poultry activities, and milk collection centers. The Livestock and Poultry
Development Sector, led by Tarek Soliman, reported that 312 permits were granted to small breeders for livestock rearing, adhering to biosecurity and animal safety standards. Additionally, 654 registrations for feed mixtures and additives were approved, with 415 locally produced and 239 imported. The Ministry also issued 91 technical approvals for new poultry projects, emphasizing biosecurity in desert areas. Technical support and homogeneity tests were conducted for 36 feed factories, and applications for mechanized licences can now be submitted digitally.
Why It's Important?
The issuance of these licences is a significant step in bolstering Egypt's agricultural sector, particularly in livestock and poultry production. By facilitating project approvals and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, the Ministry aims to enhance productivity and sustainability in these industries. The digitalization of the application process represents a modernization effort to streamline operations and improve service delivery. This initiative is expected to boost economic activity, create jobs, and support food security in Egypt, aligning with broader national development goals.
