India's Agriculture Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced the release of 184 new crop varieties developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. This includes 60 rice varieties, contributing
to India's rice production exceeding 150 million tons in 2025, surpassing China as the leading rice-exporting nation. The government aims to ensure that agricultural schemes reach farmers nationwide and is preparing a Krishi roadmap for states. A new Seed bill is also under consideration for the upcoming parliament session.
