What's Happening?
The Marcus Foundation has allocated $1.1 million to Leading Edge to train 5% of all Jewish nonprofit board members in the U.S. The Board Leadership Accelerator program aims to enhance the effectiveness of Jewish nonprofit boards by providing training
in leadership, strategic planning, and governance. The initiative will involve over 1,500 board members from more than 60 organizations, addressing a critical need for better-prepared board members in the Jewish nonprofit sector. The program builds on previous efforts by the Marcus Foundation to support leadership development in Jewish organizations.
Why It's Important?
This initiative addresses a significant gap in the preparedness of board members in Jewish nonprofits, which can impact the effectiveness and sustainability of these organizations. By investing in board training, the program aims to improve governance, strategic decision-making, and accountability, ultimately enhancing the impact of Jewish nonprofits. The ripple effect of well-trained board members can lead to stronger leadership across the sector, benefiting the broader community. This effort also highlights the importance of leadership development in ensuring the long-term success of nonprofit organizations.
