The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy’s (OSTP) July 2026 Report, 'Science: A New Golden Age,' recommends that federal agencies build a self-improving science enterprise by mapping systemic gaps and evaluating program effectiveness. Similarly, the Office of Space Commerce's Mission Authorization framework and opt-in program for certifying novel space activities are designed to be iterative and adaptive, streamlining disparate agency licensing decisions and refining requirements based on real-world experiences. This shift aims to ensure that regulatory processes are risk-informed, proportionate, and capable of evolving with new technologies and challenges in space.
