What's Happening?
The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) has initiated a new training course titled 'ISO 50001 Lead Auditor for Energy Management Systems' in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). This initiative
is part of JREEEF's efforts to bolster national capacities and improve energy efficiency, particularly within the industrial sector. The course aims to educate 20 trainees on the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard, enabling them to implement these systems effectively in their institutions. JREEEF Director Rasmi Hamzeh emphasized the government's support for the industrial sector to enhance competitiveness and growth by applying energy management standards and conducting energy audits. The program is part of a broader strategy to develop national competencies and promote sustainable energy practices.
Why It's Important?
This training program is significant as it addresses the growing need for energy efficiency in the industrial sector, which is crucial for reducing operational costs and enhancing competitiveness. By equipping professionals with the skills to implement ISO 50001 standards, the initiative supports Jordan's broader goals of sustainable development and energy conservation. The collaboration with GIZ highlights the importance of international cooperation in achieving these objectives. The program not only benefits the industrial sector but also contributes to the national economy by fostering a skilled workforce capable of driving energy efficiency and sustainability.
