What's Happening?
BAE Systems has rapidly developed a low-cost anti-drone capability for the Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoon, compressing an 18-month engineering effort into just 42 days. This development integrates the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS)
guided rockets onto the Typhoon, providing a cost-effective solution to counter Iranian Shahed drones. The integration bypassed the usual lengthy weapon integration process, allowing the RAF to deploy this capability quickly in response to urgent operational needs. The APKWS system was demonstrated successfully in air-to-air scenarios, enhancing the Typhoon's versatility.
