Eric Pettway, head coach of Wayne Memorial High School, has been named the Week One recipient of the Detroit Lions High School Football Coach of the Week Program. Pettway's team, the Zebras, achieved a significant victory over the Romulus Eagles with a score of 35-26, ending a 17-game losing streak. This marks only the second win for the program since 2019. Pettway, in his first season as head coach at Wayne Memorial, previously led River Rouge to a state championship in 2019 and a runner-up finish in 2020.
