What's Happening?
Carnegie Mellon University, in collaboration with the nonprofit STEM Coding Lab and the Valley School of Ligonier, has launched the AI Fluency Pilot Project for students in grades one through five. This initiative aims to teach young students about AI's
ethical and societal implications through a series of 20 in-class modules. The project is funded by the Richard King Mellon Foundation and focuses on providing a deep understanding of AI beyond simple tool usage. The program targets Title I schools, which serve low-income communities, to ensure that students in high-need areas are not excluded from the opportunities presented by the AI evolution.
