What's Happening?
HelioIndex, a new automated online directory, is providing a comprehensive snapshot of the global community in the field of solar and heliospheric physics (SHP). This tool compiles data from scientific articles and Open Researcher and Contributor IDs
(ORCIDs) to offer insights into the geographic distribution, institutional affiliations, and publication records of over 2,300 active SHP researchers across approximately 60 countries. The United States leads with the largest share of researchers, followed by China and the United Kingdom. HelioIndex is updated bi-monthly, allowing for the tracking of trends and changes over time. The platform aims to enhance the visibility of researchers, particularly those in countries with smaller SHP communities, and to foster new collaborations and research directions.
