What's Happening?
Shearwater Geoservices AS has been awarded a contract to conduct Ghana's first deepwater Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) seismic survey in the Jubilee and TEN fields. The survey, scheduled for the last quarter of 2025, follows successful deployments in Côte d'Ivoire and Angola. The project aims to enhance reservoir imaging, providing deeper insights for field development and production strategies. Shearwater's CEO, Irene Waage Basili, emphasized the company's role in pioneering new technology and delivering operational excellence in geophysical surveys. The Jubilee and TEN fields have been central to Tullow's operations for nearly two decades.
Why It's Important?
The deepwater OBN survey in Ghana represents a significant advancement in geophysical exploration technology. Enhanced reservoir imaging can lead to more efficient resource extraction and informed decision-making in field development. The project opens new geophysical frontiers, contributing to responsible resource exploration and potentially boosting Ghana's energy sector. By improving data quality and survey efficiency, Shearwater's initiative supports sustainable resource management and economic growth in the region.
